Miscarriage

In recent years, ultrasound scanning has become the most accurate method for identifying miscarriage and is usually offered to women experiencing symptoms that suggest a possible miscarriage. Identifying miscarriage through ultrasound scanning is not always straightforward, and there are cases where repeated scans are necessary before confirming a pregnancy loss. In the event of a miscarriage, tissues from the pregnancy are naturally expelled from the womb through strong contractions. Ultrasound is helpful in determining whether this natural process has been successful or if additional medical intervention is needed to facilitate recovery.
